Architecture Style of Xishiku Church

Xishiku ChurchXishiku Church old address is in Sanchi corner bank of the Zhongnanhai Lake near Changan Street. It is one of the largest and oldest churches in Beijing. It is also one famous spot in Changan Street.

The north hall is the typically Gothic architecture. The four high spire, three arch entrances and rounded rose window make an elegant and beautiful façade. It looks more spotlessly white and straight surrounded by the green pines and cypresses. There is one yellow glazed tile roof pavilion on each left and right side in front of the hall. The Saints statues on the two sides of the entrance are unique. In 1985, the church was repaired and it became the most gorgeous church in Beijing.

The hall in the north hall is almost 2200 square meters and 16.5 meters high. The bell tower spire is 31 meters high. Old Beijing Mid-autumn Day

Beijing Mid-autumn Day is from August 13th to 15th and it is called August Festival. The Changan Street is very prosperous in the festival. There are also many mud rabbit vendor’s stands in the Changan Street, especially in the prosperous are. In old Beijing, people had three days holiday. The students are not go to school. The mud rabbit vendor’s stands are to sell the rabbit made by mud.

During the mid-autumn day, the fruits are abundant. There are many fruits vendor’s Old Beijing Mid-autumn Daystands in the Changan Street. The pears, apples, malus apectabilis, grapes, peaches and many other delicious fruits full of the street. The original fruits market is in the Qianmendong Street. Now people like to have Guangzhou moon cake. In original, the first one is the Zhimeizhai moon cake. The shop is not far away from the Changan Street. History of Chang’an Street
